Muhammad Saad Asif

My name is Muhammad Saad and I am the third in line of a family which has over 60 years’ experience in the gem and jewelry industry. I am from Pakistan which also is a background of my 9 years in South Africa and 9 in Thailand under my belt which has given me a wide perspective and in depth knowledge of the African and Asian gem markets.

Our family business has expanded to include offices in Dubai, Cape Town, Tanzania and Bangkok. I am present in the management of the Bangkok office and factory which also has a factory, other family members run the show in our other locations.

At 17 I finished college and at 18 I joined the family business. I am an Accredited Gemologist through the Asian Institute of Gemological Sciences and a certified Rhino 3D Jewelry Designer which allows me to combine classical gem knowledge with modern design tools.

Our company has a focus on Tanzanite in our gold and diamond jewelry which we also include silver 925 and other precious stone pieces. We produce high quality made to order designs at wholesale prices and we have factories in Dubai and Bangkok. Our primary export markets are Eastern Africa, including Tanzania and Uganda, as well as South Africa, where I completed my further studies and developed strong, long-standing trade relationships.

Of my main clients who are also members of the ICA I put in a recommendation for myself and they will be references. I am very much into the idea of traditional meets modern and look forward to being a part of the ICA community which is at the front of global gem trade innovation.
