Costume Institute’s Gala Ball 2010

The event, nicknamed in the past, ‘Metropolitan Museum Fashion Ball’, is considered the best social ticket in New York. Oscar’s 2010 – Colored gems and gowns won big at the 82nd Academy Awards ceremony
Glitter and shimmer took the stage at the Academy Awards. But color was clearly the award winner this season. This year’s 82nd Academy Awards was an occasion to see jewelry and fashion bursting in a glamour extravaganza. The elite of movie stars were dressed and jeweled to the nines. Rich colors and textures were chosen in an optimistic, and yet tasteful approach. [more]
GEMFIELDS DISCOVERS AN EXCEPTIONAL 6,225 CARAT ZAMBIAN EMERALD
Gemfields PLC announces the discovery of an exceptional 6,225carat rough emerald at its Kagem mine in Zambia.

The emerald has been named “Insofu” (or “elephant” in the vernacular of the Bemba people indigenous to this region) in consideration of its size and in honour of the World Land Trust’s ‘Elephant Corridor Project’, of which Gemfields is a participant. [more]
Glam, Glitter & Color Preside Over Golden Globe Awards Ceremony 2010
67th Annual Golden Globe Awards
The Golden Globe ceremony is the first red carpet event of the year. This year’s 67th annual Golden Globe Awards was an occasion to measure the temperature of Hollywood jewelry and fashion. The crème de la crème of the television and movie elite were dressed and bejeweled to the nines. This year’s ceremony, held at the ballroom of Beverly Hilton on Sunday, January 17, was undeniably influenced by the massive earthquake that occurred in Haiti earlier in the week. Stars were wearing red, yellow and blue ribbon pins in a sign of solidarity. A group of stars will donate their gowns for auction to benefit earthquake victims. …[more]
