Dates Set for ICA Congress Brazil 2011

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, June 13, 2010 The International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA) announced that the upcoming ICA Congress will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil April 30 to May 4, 2011. This biennial industry event is to be hosted by IBGM-Brazilian Gems & Jewellery Trade Association marking the second time the ICA Congress has taken place in this gemstone producing nation.


"Brazil is an important source of gemstones and a jewelry design center and has become an important player in the worldwide gem and jewelry industry," stated ICA President Wilson Yuen. "The continuous pro-active international involvement of IBGM with the industry is a major factor in the development and growth of the Brazilian gemstone sector as well as its jewelry companies throughout the world," said Yuen.

During the recent JCK Show in Las Vegas, IBGM President Hecliton Henriques met with ICA Congress Committee members to discuss planning for what is anticipated to be one of the best attended congresses in the ICA history. "We anticipate strong attendance from IBGM affiliates and delegates in Brazil as well as from the international community," he said.

The 2011 Congress is titled "ETHICAL MINING & FAIR TRADE: Certification challenges from Mine to Market" Both IBGM and ICA are in the process of drafting an agenda and list of speakers to address these and other issues of growing importance in the gem and jewelry industry. The congress will also feature a mini-trade show and will be followed by an ICA mine tour.

The ICA Congress Committee is chaired by Clement Sabbagh. It includes members from IBGM and ICA as well as a professional event organizer and a public relations company in Brazil to ensure the success of the 14th edition of the ICA Congress.

ICA Congress 2011 to be held in Brazil


Tucson, AZ, February 8, 2010 - The International Colored Gemstone Association announced that the 2011 ICA Congress will be held in Brazil after an agreement was reached with IBGM, the Brazilian Gems & Jewellery Trade Association, to host the ICA Congress in Rio de Janeiro. IBGM is a long-time supporter of ICA and is active in numerous ICA activities.


A decision on the dates of the Congress is expected within a few weeks. ICA and IBGM are considering dates in May or June next year. Discussions have begun for planning an ICA Mine Tour in Brazil immediately following the Congress; which is expected to draw many participants.
